I found myself smiling a lot at the things Asher would do to get Remy’s attention. Plus, it was sort of cute the way they flirted and teased each other.

Why didn’t I quit reading then? Well there were a lot of other interesting things going on to hold my attention. This happens at least five times before you reach the middle of the book. Asher would get close, tell Remy he’s bad for her, but doesn’t explain why? And then he pulls away. It’s one of those things I hate in books. No secret that the back and forth between Asher and Remy bugged me. Once Remy is settled in her new life things get even weirder. They have an instant connection, but the both of them decide to keep their distance. Asher and Remy have a lot in common and they don’t even know it. Not even a day with her father she meets Asher. Her mother refuses to leave him and when her step-father goes a little too far Remy is sent to live with father. Her step-father abuses her and her mother on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the book, but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. I guess I jumped into it expecting this whole world on healers. You eventually find this out, but not until more than half of the book. I would have liked a little more on why Remy has this power to heal, and how. Even though there was plenty of healing going on, there were a lot of family issues and fun high school times.

I enjoyed it, but I felt like I was reading more a YA contemporary rather than a fantasy/paranormal story.

Because Remy has the power to make Protectors human again, and when they find out, they’ll becoming for her-if Asher doesn’t kill her first. Falling in love is against the rules between these two enemies. Only by killing a Healer can a Protector recover their human senses. Once a Protector of Healers, Asher sacrificed his senses to become immortal. And then one night her stepfather goes too far.īeing sent to live with her estranged father offers a clean start and she is eager to take it. Living in a household with an abusive stepfather, she has healed untold numbers of broken bones, burns, and bruises. Remy O’Malley heals people with touch-but every injury she cures becomes her own.
